Skilled Living – Prov 26:6-8

Proverb for the day:

Trusting a fool to convey a message is like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison! A proverb in the mouth of a fool is as useless as a paralyzed leg. 8 Honoring a fool is as foolish as tying a stone to a slingshot. Prov. 26:6

Be careful whom you let speak for you or whom you allow to speak into your life. Just because someone has an opinion doesn’t reserve them the right to speak it to you. The problem is fools aren’t discerning enough to know they are one. That’s where good judgment comes in.

Skilled Living – Prov 10

Proverb for the Day:

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins. Prov. 10:12

When we are offended or hurt in everyday life, our nature desires to strike back. However, remember Jesus before, during & after the abuse and horrific death He endured. His nature remained the same: Love. Let’s walk in His nature today and cover others with love. I know—those who hurt you might not deserve it. But we didn’t deserve His forgiveness either. It was purchased by Love!

Skilled Living – Prov 9

Proverb for the day:

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. 11 Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. 12 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer. Prov 9:10-12

As we invest in honoring God, the return is a life with great benefits!

Skilled Living

I try to read one chapter of Proverbs a day as part of my regular devotions. (I simply read the chapter that corresponds to the day’s date: April 5 = Proverbs 5).
Here are some thoughts I had this week:

Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. 3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. 4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Prov 2:2-4

“Tuning in”- takes a concentrated commitment.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. 7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Prov 3:5-8

When I’m stressed, the culprit is usually not trusting enough..

Great proverb for the day:
For the LORD sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. Prov 5:21

Since the “Creator of the universe” (whose response matters most) sees everything anyway, let’s be honest with ourselves and others. Join me and strive for transparency…
